So I'm fairly new to 3D modeling and as I want to learn to model buildings in general I was wondering if I should be using the "Smooth Mesh Preview" in Maya at all or not? When it comes to modeling houses, bridges etc. is it ok to not bother about smooth mesh and model things "as they are"?
This has been a very long and personal project for me. Being a big Metroid fan, I had a blast working on this. Sculps were done with Zbrush, renders were with Keyshot / Bridge. Final comps were all done in Photoshop. I hope you like her and the little metroid.
i do get mad! i cant find the script anymore where there is shortkey for connect cut bridge etc on shortcut "c" content aware depending on edit mode and or selection of 1 edge or two edges or to vertecies etc.. can someon provide the script or the link or the source!?
Yea not in front of Maya right now to try this out but its similar to iconoplast's idea. Place the verts of the cutting object on the surface of the main mesh, remove the polys in both and bridge or create new polys that respect the hole.
Looking really nice! I think it's missing something in it's composition though - my eyes keep being drawn to the middle of the road under the bridge... Maybe ad some splashes of colour around to keep the eye moving.
loving the use of color and the lighting is looking great. maybe a bit too much of the tiling texture in image 2 on the right hand side but that would pretty much be my only crit, the forms on that bridge look awesome.
Chris10 >> were you going for a stylized wood ? Shape and surface seems unliked right now. Is it an interior wood floor or for an exterior boat bridge ? By the way, my last stuff on Designer, https://www.artstation.com/artwork/PN8Ry
the only thing that really bugs me is that trail, it should be about the width of a person or 2, and that bridge is huge compared to the tent. Unless that trail is used for carts or something, but then it should have some groves in the ground from the carts.
Just booted up Shogun 2, graphics options says its using basically the sandy bridge graphics instead of the 2gbs of nvidia in the unit? Wtf? How do I change that? Theres no drop down or anything.
She's supposed to be wearing a latex-style suit, do you think I should make the cloth "bridge" between the boobs instead of having them separate? I wanted to make them look semi-supported.
