1. I plan on importing it into UDK 2. I am going to apply a diffuse, specular, gloss and normal map. 3. My target triangle count would be anything below 2k for this model 4. I already have a highpoly model I made with Sub-division. 5. The object will be a 1st person melee weapon. :)

Back again doing Brett's class, 1st prop HP. Looking forward to texturing this one as I've got some awesome reference too. I found this image from the 3D Artist magazine which has inspired me to make a mini diorama scene for my own prop. So plenty more to come soon!
1st. thing is i get this Bios shock feeling when looking at that stair case and the checker tile... Not sure if that's good or bad but its what came to mind with in .25 seconds of looking at you scene. 2nd is if its a library i would expect A LOT more books. but everything else looks pretty good quality

Average for what kind of game? You'd make a door frame much larger if you're making a 3rd person shooter vs. 1st person. If it's for an RTS it could be twice as large as real scale. First define visual needs from the view of the player as well as the gameplay needs. This will help answer most of your dimensional issues.
