Re: Half Life 2 - What was the big deal?
The big deal was it came out in 2004. It did a great deal for storytelling, immersion, and just plain illusion of life in linear shooters. The basic gameplay, though, was hitscan turret combine soldiers and the magical medpack journey. Did not age well at all. -

I'm curious to see how Tim Burton does Lewis Carrol's alice in wonderland. For those curious. Lewis Carrol was known to take amanitas, which are a known "magic mushroom" that tend to give a sense of shrinking and growing among other effects. -

Hey holmes, I don't have an answer for you unfortunately. I just suspected some sort of wizard magic was happening. As for lightmap differences, we never noticed them tbh when they were all set to the same quality level. -

Thanks for the feedback! I used some photoshop magic to make the glass a colour and glow, so the final product shouldn't look as cluttered. I'll keep that in mind when we throw it in game and be sure it doesn't end up too busy. :D -

A simple grey Lambert diffuse, with a Blinn (for metal) or Phong (for organic) render with a 3PL is all you need really. There is nothing magical, maybe post some example pictures on what you rendered vs. what you wish it would look like? -

Depends on their model. Lol and Dota 2 have perfectly fine models that dont' interfere with play itself. If they can make it like that then i don't see the problem, but if they do the "buy this magic alien wreck map for only $5" route then the game will be a throwaway.
