I was asked my strong/weak points, and I do what is expected of me. And if it is out of bounds of what they think I can do, they ask me first. however, I work at a vfx studio, and they have dedicated teams for say modeling, and texturing that is separate from each other. Out of a dozen modelers, only one of us swaps… -

Have you gone back for warranty? That's the first thing you should try. Wait. I just read you swapped out the fan(s) of the card. That voids warranty, so you're SOL. And no, you don't glue stuff. You use thermal adhesive. This is probably why you had issues too. Were there problems before you changed the fan(s)? -

The polygon limit is pretty high. You can import easily 15M triangles and paint on it smoothly, even on mid-end GPUs. There is no limit to the number of texture sets you can have (700 is the actual limit I think) but the more you have the more Painter will have to swap things in memory and the tool will get slower. i wanted to try to nail >10K polys...but i'm kind of stuck at 12k. I'm not sure what else i can realy cut at this point, though without compromising things. I may swap out for a more blocky grip, but that'll only get me so far. I'm beginning to think i'm just gonna deal with being a little over.
