I didn't import a colour ID this was just a .OBJ mesh that I was trying to import.

Nah you cant. mayaLT can only save as .mlt and export FBX/OBJ.

Ah OK. It was fixed by using OBJ export with the setting Faces = Triangles. Thanks for the fix!
