Regarding the turntable, maybe you could try a screen capturer with raw data enabled? That way you'll get frame by frame in higher quality? Marmosets own sucks donkey balls. I always get super lags with it..
The gamma compensation is already applied, you don't need to do anything, if you render something and then go to Preferences--->Color Management and disable the Enable Color Management, you'll see what happens if the color space is not gamma corrected.
You may just need to tile the UVs. Add a UVW Xform modifier, and increase the V Tile amount. Or, in the Sweep modifier, enable Real World Map Size. Check the Help file for more info about what this is.
high res shadow is enabled i'll try those other light types i didn't check the suggestions, you mean i should post there? (ok i don't find the suggestions? what and where are they?) thanks for the reply!
If you want to adjust the specular light reflection, you can use the width setting to enable area lights. The bigger the width the larger the reflection. This is helpful for mimicking large, diffused studio lights for instance. It will blur the shadows as well.
This is looking great. Some nice lighting would really help. Tone down the ambient intensity, enable self-shadowing, add some ambient occlusion. For example: http://www.followingthenerd.com/site/wp-content/uploads/moisture-vaporator.jpg
You can add opacity to the channel list and enable alpha-test shader, then apply an opacity fill to the cube to make it invisible. This is something I do from time to time to hide sub-groups within a texture set.
I haven't been able to play yet since the servers are down atm but in the options double buffered v-sync is enabled by default. Make sure to disable it or else you'll most likely get tons of input lag.
I posted that two pages back, I think. I'm beginning to suspect no one reads my posts because they're too long, or I have accidentally enabled a cloaking device in my web browser :p
What about enabling AA in Max? I read somewhere you could force it through the NVidia Control Panel just like you would for a game (if you have an NVidia card of course), but it didn't work for me.
