Mario looks the way he does because his original sprite was 16 pixels tall. Sonic the Hedgehog also suffered the same issue to a lesser extent on the megadrive. You'll notice however that both characters have evolved to be taller and thinner. It's a pretty poor example to pick upon given it's age.
The drum could use some more sides if the camera can get as close as in the first picture; I'd say at least 24 or even 32 sides instead of the current 16. The same is also true of the braziers. Unless you are targeting a mobile platform, don't be afraid to spend polygons where they are needed.
@Caser, that bark looks great, and you've got a nice workflow there! Glad the symmetry node has been useful. It came to my attention that it's 8 bit, so I'll need to upload 16 bit versions ASAP. I'm also in crunch though... I wish I could be substancing! :poly142:
2) What do you mean by 'in windows'? The screen on the PC, while hooked up to the TV? Or the display on the TV, which is displaying Windows at the time? Have you cycled through the options on the TV (ie. 16:9, widescreen, whatever else the menu has) while outputting 1360x720 from the pc?
wii allows like 8 or 16 multi-textures in single pass (similar to GC), so its more a question of someone adding it to the engine. I think if there is no hw support for multitexture, one should try to go the vertex lighting route, a few vertices more will be not as bad as a full second pass...
I watch anime, netflix series, films, i play some games... but i mostly paint/draw in my cintiq 16. And when i'm not doing those things, i'm growing crops and breeding chickens. I do not include the gym because that's like work haha.
Update: Just gave the 30 day trial of maya 2016 (not lt) a whirl and the snapping issue is non existent. Will contact Autodesk about it.Update2: Noticed lt 2017 was out, after a semi confusing chat on how to upgrade 16 to it, got it installed, and snapping is back to working as it should.
You could use Adobe Illustrators trace feature with 16 colors and save without anti aliasing. Update: I tried this, and it does not work as well as I hoped. AI trace feature isn't accurate enough so the edges don't match exactly. In theory it worked though :-)
Looking good =) . For the crate with dirt in it. If you add some depth via geometry to make the dirt look like its resting inside the box instead of being painted on top, it'd make the whole thing pop more & would only add an extra 16 tri's or so.
I'm not sure I can finish this. I've left myself too much to do. I've been on my computer now for about 16+ hours and I feel sick :) Trying to decide if it's worth submitting an 'on 2s' version that looks way better than the current splined one...
