Depends on the tris count. From what I know an environment for an AAA fps game like rainbow six has around 3-4 millions tris without characters. For platforms games I really don't know. But I think the tris count is higher now. I mean I can render in real time with GI a landscape with 33 millions tris at around 15-20 fps…
Hey again. I'm not sure if this should be a new thread... but well... Has anybody experience with lightmaps and level streaming? Because when I transfer my landscape or a bunch of static meshes to another level for streaming, my otherwise fine lightmaps become all ragged and ugly. Especially on shadow-edges diagonal to the…
Hey Alex, Looking good, Really like how its coming along. Couple things, I think the railroad ties are a bit close to each other. http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQRklvbVcERHY4cHObApUFVSPFR91caOA4bqVM8FSKOQXyCVrOT I also think that the beams supporting the buildings should be much thicker. I'm sure this will come…
toxic_h2o: I would have to agree whole heartedly. Thank you for giving that artist a name, man does he do good work. InProgress: I do intend in having another go at that damn puddle, I think I will have to make it a decal as I can't get it to look good as a straight Landscape material. I think I may of reduced the noise…
Oh that's good to know. Thanks for bringing that up. I've been making my masks with a Falloff map in Max, affected by the bump. But isolating erosion/etc. sounds like it might be helpful. How do you divide World Machine output into tiles? Like say I make a 8192^2 landscape, and want to output sixteen 1024^2 tiles. I'm…
Whoa! The landscape and brush are really working with each other now. The brush seems a bit more defined but not enough to become an eyesore, but doesn't blend in with the ground that you can't tell it's there - good job. The only qualm I have any more is the inside of the house is too bare. Give it a few planes with…
This thread is meant as a more focused and condensed version of my previous WiP thread and some additional comments and break-downs of my work. Finished project here. I won't be going too deep into details, I'll mostly just be showing my general structure. I really want to stress: Even though I'm tessellating and…
I realize this is a bit dated but I wanted to suggest that there is a plugin on the marketplace called "simple scatter" and its perfect for this need. It's not one of those tools that has a bunch of crap you don't need - it replaces UE4 procedural foliage in a much simpler and artist friendly way. it takes a landscape or…
Hi and welcome to Polycount! We don't use BBCode tags here, like [IMG]. Just use the Insert Image button (which looks like a landscape picture ) and paste the full image URL (starting with http and ending with jpg or gif or png). Or you can just drag-n-drop directly into your edit. More helpful info on this here:…
This is a project I have recently started working on inspired by some landscapes I saw during this past winter, and thought it would be good to document it here. I plan on making it an old, partially destroyed farm, set in the Irish countryside. I plan on making it a scene of an ambush, so there will be arrows and weapons…
