it's your IOR map. This is a float value in V-Ray, so an 8bit bitmap will only
apply 0-1 IOR. Did you export a 16bit file? Tried,
doesn't seems to make noticeable changes (unless there are some additional
switches in 3ds max map settings that also should be tweaked to make in work).
Though I also suspect IOR map to…
Look up the V-Ray help for Rhino. I don't personally use Rhino, but V-Ray in 3ds Max does use a different paradigm for materials than standard PBR. Instead of roughness it's glossiness, which is further segmented into Reflect Glossiness vs. Refract Glossiness. Metalness is now supported in the latest V-Ray, but if they…
It was just a test glass for rendering purposes, it's rendered in Toolbag but it had an IOR of 1.0 so it didn't refract at all. This is from the first day of texturing :)
Yeah. In Max with V-Ray I would use a cylinder around the propeller, with a Falloff as a mask for IOR, and a Noise to animate the turbulence. Not sure how Fstorm wants it though.
"Just don't quit. " Make that your mantra. Whenever the anxiety starts fucking with you, literally repeat the phrase over and over and over. Out loud or in your head. Until your mind is clear. 10,000 times it may take. Just do it. You can close your eyes and deep breath too. You make a habit of this for some time and it…
Level03D to Level02B - Transition edit Not much on my side but our team is approaching gold, most of the shots from our Beta is mostly intact but with a few given changes. The previous Level03D transition to Level02B, Martin Bowman gave me an idea if a transition effect would work, something spacey. I asked our Effects…
I suppose it's just the fact that fresnel ior and its effect on the GGX microfacet effect hasn't made it into the game shaders yet. The offline GGX models are FAR more realistic than Blinn/Phong.
Octane doesn't have specific skin shader, just a "Universal" PBR one where you could set extra coating and shin layers with its own IOR and roughness and have pretty realistic light transmission/sss effects. Although I had to admit I use it mostly for landscape things. It's a tad less realistic regarding the skin matter…
