@Special KBS That looks fantastic! @JonConley Nice,i just figured if you're making a tiling texture repetition isnt that bad, you can always break it up with like vertex painting or decals. Thats atleast how i thought about it when i made a smaller pattern.
Looks awesome! My only critique is that the floor seems unconnected to the rest of the scene. Perhaps some dirt decals under the stove, or along the walls might help tie it in a little better. Everything else looks very polished (in the "finished" sense of the word) and the lighting looks fantastic. Great work!
CryEngine has great feature called blend layer. It blends two for eg tilable textures on the wall in areas painted by vertex color, using third small texture as a mask. It effectively breaks tilable feeling of vast areas. Additionally ofc you can add decals for random dirt.
Maybe the best method would be to simply use an intact model, and deform it with real time physics. Many games use this. The another option is to model a few damaged states, but individual textures for the different damage states is not required. "Decals" or simply a new layer of damage texture can work well.
Testing different angles. FoV and lights. Going to make some decals and props to fill out the environment, and re work the center pedestal so that it is hovering in the center of the room above a huge dark pit. Also going to make some proper entrances/exits to the room and some pathways leading up to the pedestal.
Hi all, I have finally decided to post my middle east environment that I have been working on. I just wanted to post some pics to see what you think? Obviously the textures on the buildings are not finished, I want to add dirt/grime etc by using decals. Is this a good way to go? Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with…
Some sci-fi weapons for 3rd person UE4 based game. 3ds Max + Substance Painter c&c welcome here goes WIP pics first iteration going highpoly substance texturing goes here ( sill thinking about adding decal on the flat white surface ) testing in UE4 tired a bit of a pistol, so started smg more pics to come
I know this probably sounds stupid, but what exactly is the big difference between photo textures and PBR scans? I know that scans have more detail, but how exactly? I would like to incorporate them into my workflow soon but am not sure if it is worth the extra headache of creating a decal of say a road line or just taking…
Hey guys this is my first time posting on the crydev forums, So I was wondering if anyone knows if it possible to use the blend layer to have bricks show on a concrete mesh, kinda like in the picture . I thought about trying to do it with decals, but I dont know if I would be able to fake the depth better if I used a blend…
[LAST WIP] [/LAST WIP] I'm working on a new environment inspired by the typical architecture of romanian buildings. It's still early wip, i am planning on adding some vegetation, more props like trash cans, light posts and garbage on the ground, maybe some bigger puddles and more decals like graffitis and more grime.…
