Thanks for the kind words everyone. It's extremely motivating :) Anyway, here's a little update. I added a new skybox. I opted to handpaint it; it still needs refinement but it's achieving the look I want. I also added some morph target animations to the sacs. Aside from that, I just did general world building and lightmap…
Really appreciate the feedback and paintover - no need to take it down. I definitely need some contrast and color. Purple works nicely on handle, maybe something darker..gonna try blue tones also. I'm off to try colors and some handpainted overlay on the texture. Also gonna tone down the grime..will post changes later. I'm…
This is currently what im working on, just rigging now so that i can get the pose down, and then go in for final texture fixes. Been working on this through 3d coat and photoshop and its a dream creating handpainted stuff! i love it! Based on Violet from the comic Rat Queens. This one has been in the process for a while…
I finished texturing. No miracle here: I know nothing about handpainted textures >_< I never draw textures by hand, so I must say it went much better, than I expected and than it should be) UVs are not optimal and I will leave them as is, but I understood why people are packing their map so hard. Here is final 3D with…

Definitely improving! I'm not a top handpainted skills guy, I'm just OK. But the way I handle it is to work all the areas equally... do all the broad strokes at the same time, then the mid-detail strokes all across the piece, waiting until the end to add the small strokes. This gif shows kind of how I approach it. Try…
I think there are a couple exceptions to this. For example, I ended up with a test for Overwatch with 0 stylized pieces in my portfolio. I also know of another artist at a huge sci-fi oriented studio who was asked as well. Obviously Overwatch's style is a bit of a mid ground between realism and stylized. I feel though…
Hey Welcome to Polycount. As it turns out a lot of people here have a healthy obsession with lowpoly models; a lot of people love the stuff myself included! Here is a thread dedicated to it, i think its up to 427 pages atm... have fun browsing! =) - http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41232 Also have a search…
Made the low poly, baked down some normals and tried my hand at PBR with handpainted textures. I got some baking problems with the boots cuff that I need to fix and I'm getting light bleed with unity's standard shader into the eyeballs, something with the shadow cast from the eyelashes aren't working 100% yet. Not totally…
