Hi guys. I'll leave you with this technical challenge hopefully somebody is so kind to offer wisdom. I have a big weapon composed of a fairly high number of elements and overlapping geometry. The highpoly version is composed of multiple smaller objects detailed in Zbrush. The lowpoly, retopoed, uvd version in Max, is the…
so i'm new to zbrush and for the last few days i've been sculpting my highpoly-mesh for normal map purposes. i use xNormal for this and i tried once with a unfinished highpoly, with good results. but now that i have a somewhat more detailed mesh the normalmap that comes out looks wack. as i try to figure out why i discover…
Hello everyone :) I've been doing highpoly modeling for a while, but I'm a lowpoly beginner and I have a couple of questions about it. As a first proper lowpoly test I thought I'd make an ammo crate. Couldn't be hard, right? :) All went well until I had to bake the normal map. I get strange triangles here and there, that I…
G'day everyone! I have been putting together for the last few weeks a small diorama scene in my own time. Ive had the concept in my mind for the last few years, and finally I had some spare time to work on it. Ive spent the last few months doing non-3d stuff (magazine articles and talks!), so now thats out of the way ive…
You need a cage file to get better renders on cylinders. This would be something with the same topology as the low poly, but "inflated" to encapsulate both the high and low poly meshes. I wouldn't even auto-generate one in this case, make it by hand. It will also help to change the highpoly's bands to be slightly beveled.…
You want your lowpoly to look indistinguishable from your highpoly, geometry wise, it looks like at least 2x what you have now is needed to make it look flawless Also the texture resolution is way too low and it just looks blurry Overlay some photo textures and add proper small scale detail / material noises in spec /…
The 3D painting on the model looks very nice! Are there any mirroring options while 3D painting? The video is a bit too fast even with lowering the speed. Feels to me like the viewer is not supposed to see too clearly what is going on. Is it possible to user 16bit (per channel) gradient maps? Maybe it even is already in…
That last image you found is a beautiful example. You can get so much info out of it. You can see how he uses flow and edges to define forms. Where the mesh is denser or lighter depending on the detail needed. It's a beautifl example of sub_D modelling. As for your model. I've been keeping track of this thread, and your…
@ Tits -> Thanks Marie! before i was little worried, why i am not getting any crit..hehe I will keep posting updates and I am much of determind this time to not make any delay for this guy, target is to finish within a month.:poly142: @Beefaroni -> Thanks a lot, Glad you like! :) @Leleuxart -> Thank you! :) @Jacob07777 ->…
Here's an update on the normal bake. I unwrapped it again and also cut out some of the excess polys from before- Added a few more though in other areas. Comments and other request below--- [/URL] Quack: My groups aren't set by islands. I posted the normal map below with some places that I am spotting errors circled for my…
