The funny thing is, even though BSP is ideally suited to interiors, it was originally developed for flight sims, and just like racetracks, there is almost no occlusion at all, so it seems quite odd. That's what I've done in the past and it works pretty well. I guess you could try using Render to Texture but something tells me that'll be messy? Never really tried it that way before. It will probably pay off to render with some simple lights or close to 70% self illum, default viewport lighting will probably look wonky.… -

Try to increase emission in view-port shader settings, check in glare and decrease environment map exposure in display settings or choose something but bright day as back image. Also you may turn ACES in dysplay settings tone mapping if you work for ACES controlled color pipeline to see proper color of emission in ACES… -

Are you sure there's no alpha? How are you viewing the saved files? One important thing to remember is PNG alpha can be goofy.
