That tutorial wont help Cannonfodders tools dont work anymore, he stoped updating them... youre gonna have to use Valves turorials and learn their compile tools/method(urg manually write Qc files ftl)...Good luck with that ~.~. Seems valve completely ignored the fact that most game modders use 3dsmax and they went to bed… -

Things have changed over time — the forum format might not be the most popular these days, but I think Polycount still has great value thanks to its community and tutorials. Hopefully, new content and techniques will keep appearing over time. It’s really nice to have all these tutorials gathered in one place. -

Because the learning curve is waaaaaaaaaaay steeper in Houdini. It is bar-none the least intuitive piece of software I have ever used. And tutorials are extremely difficult to come by for it as well. Not to mention the fact that 3D work is inherently more complex than 2D work. Even Digital Tutors only really has tutorials… -

Your best option imo is not to do a masters but to use a tutorial site(s), such as digital tutors or eat3d (there are plenty others) to teach yourself maya/max/a game engine, there are plenty great tutorials that are alot cheaper than a masters and you will learn more than doing a masters course.
