Practiced creating a game asset for the first time with the Poltergust 5000 from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon ! I was proud of how my original model of it came out, and I do like the end result, but I still have to practice making UVs and baking a lot more. I don't think the unwrap is your biggest problem so far. I think you want to have a look at manga anatomy (which is the same as anatomy anatomy) first. With UV mapping you just need to keep practicing, When I started I had no Idea how it worked but it still worked. Now I have a better Idea (still no master), but the results don't matter just keep practicing.
That's nice looking wood. But I'm with Adam. If it's not going to have some style to it, manipulating wood images might be a better use of on-the-job time (if it were a job task.) Of course, on your own time, practicing anything is better than practicing nothing!

Regardless of weather the cart will be in motion or not, the "wheel" could use some more polys. It's not a matter of if the cart moves or not, its a matter of does this look like it could work.. is it practical. A wheel with 10 sides is not practical in any way, shape or form.
