Looking good, will try out soon! Btw: a simple version of Smart Edge Loop/Ring exists in Autodesks own Maya Bonus Tools (Select N-th Edge in Loop/Ring), yours seems better though.
Trying different FBX SDKs? Is this process using sample presets from Autodesk FBX Extensions
and building in Visual Studio into .dll, then using that in the 3ds max install
folders? Just checking this method is correct for trying FBX SDKs.
when you reinstall did you try renaming the enu folder? C:\Users\YOUR LOGIN NAME\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2011 - 32(64)bit\enu rename to enu.old or something. good luck! :)
That's a pretty basic model... I think you might be better of looking for tutorials on how to use 3ds max instead. Try this site it has a lot of good stuff... http://cg.tutsplus.com/category/tutorials/autodesk-3ds-max/
It looks good, i wouldnt put it in your portfolio since there is a detailed tutorial on how to make this http://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials/autodesk-3d-studio-max/how-to-create-a-video-game-dumpster-the-complete-current-gen-workflow/
About that part, I couldn't help but wonder whether an option, such as, unlock rotation axis that exists for the bones also exists for the controls. Might be worth exploring the attribute editor or reaching out to folks at the official Autodesk Maya site.
@Retmia, I couldn't agree more. Our team has been solving polys by hand for over a decade, but always trying to find ways to speed up the process! I agree, we need to find an insider at Autodesk!
if Valve can convince devs to start making Linux based games, then Autodesk/Adobe/Pixologic might start to see the financial value of doing the same. Valve might actually pull off the biggest shift in OS history.
I was hoping for a near perfect native format exporter between the packages. Sounds like the new display abilities are the best feature. It's like getting underwear for Christmas. I hope Autodesk keeps R&D a high priority.
digitalapprentice is offering 7 vids fundamentals for $55 (or a low price of....9.99 per video minus a freebie) Off Topic, can anybody give a brief review of autodesk's humanIK. Is this for tech artists or is it also non-techie friendly.
