I've used AMD for 10 years in my PC builds. They give good performance in the affordable price range, whereas Intel holds the fastest CPU title and charges a premium for it. I don't need bleeding edge CPU power. My Phenom II 4x 950 BE serves me just fine and they haven't gone through as many socket changes as Intel either.… -

Yea actually they're officially considered the second generation mainstream "i" series, as denoted by the 2 at the beginning of their serial number. as always i recomend a phenomII quadcore (955 +) and 8 gibs of ram, an asus/msi board and a cheaper ati 5XXX card ati makes alot of less headache lately and works fine with maya and max and the other common tools, nvidia gives me some issues touh, with photoshop blendmodes and random crashes -

this aint correct, while Cg is a language by Nvidia it works (when compiled to proper profiles) on ATI as well. It's eventually the same as HLSL for directx, while I cant speak for DirectX, under OpenGL Cg will work on ATI's newer cards 9500+ or any card that supports ARB fragment/vertex programs just fine, and with a… -

It's nice, better than any Kirby IMO, but it's not alt-tab friendly. I get treated to a black screen (no input either) when I switch back Athlon 950, Geforce2gts 64mb, DX9c, and WinME.
