I was wrong btw, there are no specmaps in the game, they have some kind of plasticwrapmap, so they can achieve some sort of plasticwrap effect on armours, but they don't give the specular effect you really need.
To become a character artist, you need to prove that you have a really solid understanding of human anatomy, polygon flow/distribution for character animation, and optimal UV packing skills. Your portfolio does not currently exemplify any of these things. Your first three pieces are either non-human, or almost fully…
The face and hands are excellent, as is most of the armor. Id love to see a closeup from the hands and the armor on the arms. 3 little nitpicks, first: your folds look like deep cuts. Mostly folds aren't deep but just more "layered", if you know what i mean. Second, the anatomy of where the torso and shoulder meet looks a…
It looks as though the proportions are slightly off. It's hard to tell with all the armor. As far as the armor and outfit is concerned, some of the pieces don't make too much sense, and the detailing for them could work out better. If you haven't seen them, Mike Jenson released a great set of tutorials on hard surface…
In addition to the feet, I'd say the legs themselves need a bit of rethinking. I'd look at the anatomy of an actual digitigrade animal and base it off of that, because the anatomy right now looks a bit random (just on the legs, the torso and arms look good). On the lowpoly it looks like you're fighting your baking a little…
One week in... I've only had a few hours to work on this character each night after work but I'm having a blast doing it. Today I got a few more armor bits done and fixed up some things that were bugging me. On the to-do list: minor armor additions (wolf heads on the hand armor, engraving on the groin plate thing,…
Hi All, Anyone know where to find good texturing tutorials? I mean more for characters (i.e. skin, armour, scales, leather, cloth etc) than the usual wood and metal environment stuff. Cheers, Justin
Working on a new bust, an Imperial Roman guard. I'm still currently blocking out the armour and tweaking his face in between. karytsukino: Thank you! much appreciated :)
Made some progress on skeleton but there's still a lot things to do. If You have some advices please tell me, I just can't concept armour or something.
