Hello there and welcome to Polycount! I edited your topic title, I hope you don't mind. You get more feedback if you use a descriptive title. Tips here. @FrankPolygon has similar modeling tips in his Sketchbook, it is worth a look!
Hey everyone! I'm working on a diver's knife, and I'd really like some critique, and tips about what to do to make it better. So far I know the wood needs a fair amount of work; and that the specular values are a bit too dull on the blade and the brass bits. Any tips on how to get it to read as metal better? Thanks!…
I've try looking it up online doesn't seem to have any useful tip on rayswitch in vray I am making an eye ball. Everything looks good but the reflection. I am using dome light with and HDRI for the light and GI. But I need to switch the reflection of the eye to catch more spec. Anyone can shine me some tip?
They're fantastic, and are very pretty to look at. Careful though! Many people I know bought these books assuming they would get hot tips and such about modeling, only to then sell it me for a low price. As once a Pro-Tip said: Shoot it till it dies.
hmm this shader seems to have issues displaying TIF's as diffuse and normal maps. At least the ones that zbrush r3 spits out ... or is it a maya thing?? i was getting the same visual error as "wretchedgoat" until i changed my maps from tif to jpg.
I think the amount of detail looks ok in-game. Though, hm, maybe add a bit more yellow to the tips of your horse? like your 512x512 image. The in-game model doesnt look like it's glowing hot without those yellow tips.
I'm looking more towards the mod tools in terms of making the useless junk in the game and having it to make user made weapons. Like someone said earlier, those damn tin cans don't do crap, so why not tin can grenades?
The branches on the shrubbery do seem too thick. Thin the base down a bit, then gradually taper the branches until they are only a bit thicker than the leaf stems at the tip. At the moment, almost all of your taper occurs at the tip.
