The transparency thing didn't work. The script works fine if all of the viewport stuff is turned off :/ And the normal viewport grabbed which max has works fine, I just can't seem to make it to "render" the image at a larger scale. Nice improvement. While little white scratch are really fun to paint, it must have a certain purpose on it. If you look at some photo reference, the damages are more rusty and bumpy. Add more rust at some strategic places, where it can "historically" being damaged.… -

That probably won't quite answer your question, but studios relying on "diffuse only" painted assets increasingly do so by working from baked sculpts anyways, as it is in many cases faster (especially when designs are complex and detailed), provides fantastic results and makes everything consistent. I've got a cheap $100-$150 desk from Office Depot with some cheap shelves from Bed Bath And Beyond and I'm pretty happy.
