I was hoping to get feedback on a character I'm painting. It's a looter, criminal. It's not a main character type of look, he would not be the NPC who sells you apples either, but I think, more of a guy who you would at most, have to bounty hunt for a reward for looting a village with his gang or something. I was looking…
Good work so far, it looks like you've already picked up on some problems already. The house stone texture is very dull, theres not much going on there. You can try a hand-painted approach which will come off pretty nicely. Something along the lines of this but more cartoonish. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/HZsgqNs7mQc/0.jpg Also…
Playing it.... loving it. I used to play hardcore back in early TBC, almost fell victim to full on addiction, then pretty much quit until WotLK came out. Since then I've only had the chance to play for like an hour or two a day, sometimes not at all so I like to think I have a good relationship with it lol. Playing like…

It's amazing how much cool stuff people came up with with just a simple shader like this :) . After all the reactions on this shader I decided I should sign up here and offer some follow up... (some of them have been partially answered before though) 1) The current max shader peppi posted transforms the normals into view…
Look at Pixar's films if you want to see PBR that isn't generated from photo reference, and isn't photo realistic. PBR and stylized rendering are not mutually inclusive or exclusive. To qualify as physically based, all you need is a system of shaders that light the world in a physically accurate manner, and a set of art…
The problem is modern npcs are unpredictionable stupid. The npcs have no "common sense" what kills the Immersion. Forgetfulness is maybe the most common failure because its resets the player failures and let him exploit the same pattern over and over.
Great work, some very impressive titles under your belt. I would try to make some more personal works that show what you have learned from your professional while adding a bit more personality than you can get away with doing npcs
I still notice games tend to cut to a different shot as soon as the character is either putting on clothes or if an NPC is handing the player something. So I guess, it's still a tough thing to pull off.
