I've done the tweaks I wanted to do and decided that I am done with this. Maybe there is more to do or change but at this time I'm pretty happy with it. Any further critique will be considered and I may change something. Thanks for all the comments, appreciated as always. Now to focus on my other project the Wildstar…
Well it's got the Ye Olde England look you'd expect from the book. Kind of getting a Big Fish or Baron of Munchausen feel from it, so I expect it'll be absorbing to see in a theater... The casting seems ok. I was hoping Yvaine would've been played by someone feistier. Michelle Pfeiffer is hawt!
Most Marine tank enthusiasts install an RO/DI filter at home so they can make their own water (tap water is lethal to marine fish, even after you de-chlorinate it). Alot of them stop drinking unfiltered water after they see all the disgrossting crap it filters out of their tap water.
I'd like to get some significant art asset creation experience under my belt, before making the transition to a more design-based role, actually conceiving gameplay mechanics and such. After that, retire to the wilds of New Hampshire or Vermont and spend my days fishing and sipping Jim Beam on the porch, under the stars....
A take on the character from the H.P. Lovecraft short story "The Shadow over Innsmouth". I see many human-fish hybrids where really quite a 'cool' or 'fearsome' aquatic animal is spliced in (shark-man, octopus head etc.) so I thought it would be fun to do something goofy like the Oranda goldfish.
Truthfully, I enjoyed the 701 build up ... Brad had a whole series of videos there which was fun. 801 launch was a bit of a dead fish but you can't win them all. A great version, mind you, but the launch was definitely limp. Especially the hour long web cast event where basically ... nothing happened.
This is going to happen a lot even in a studio so get used to it. I often have gotten character concepts of just a 3/4 view...nothing more and off you go. Finding reference close is your best bet. Also if your reference image has distortion or a fish eye lens effect, try to account for that.
About about alive stuff, are small think like bugs, squirrel of fish okay ? Just small thing to gave life, not major focus point in the scene, small stuff or in the background stuff ( thing that could be just background painting for example a far away dragon you see from a window, nothing too much details)..
Currently going to be making a character of sorts that is a fish humanoid thing. Characters aren't my strong suit so i'm going to take this slow and carefully. Here's some preliminary sketches i did. Planning on taking one of these designs or multiples of them and coming with a final character. I'll be using this…
I'm pretty sure what he's (mis)reporting is the mainstream news reports that methane leaks from the oil spill (not from soem giant underwater bubble) are depleting the oxygen levels in the region and killing fish. That is real life scary methane evidence, but it's a very different kind of concern than climate change…
