lol yeah I kinda want to do unearthly challenge this year anyway its beginning to seem rather unlikely that I would be employed as a character artist in this current climate and I quite like enviro work anyway.
usually i only comment on char art but these enviros in this competition are so freaking out of control i have no choice but to fanboi all over them. this rocks, i am dangerously close to making my own now.
Did you use your 3D model to make that last sketch or the other way around? :p You have a great mastery of perspective in your doodles, I'm a bit envious. I'm impatient to see the next step.
started playing it this weekend, and i too looked for art. The special edition comes with a art book. But i would love to see some of the enviroments, shaders, and stuff. Not too deep into character stuff myself, but that would be nice also.
agree with the others any chance it could be a bit lighter and not so much red? it just looks like someone grayscaled the environment and and put a red overlay on top. Would be sad to not be able to admire all that lovely enviro art :(
I dont think we have any of those guys here on polycount... However, here's my guess. Make a portfolio of enviros on the same quality level as the stuff you see in their movies and you'll get a job eventually.
thanks for the Tutorial and explaining why and how the steps work, Im sure it will be a help later Ive not done much low poly enviro work so its hard to understand why things work the way they do sometimes.
Chris has been hitting the gym, I see, which isn't anything new, but every time I see him those mega arms and that super thin waist really stand out. Yes, I'm envious.
Looks awesome the only thing I'd change is I'd model out the little piece of stone under the pillar it screams decal at the moment with no depth in the side angles looking forward to seeing more stuff. Love the enviro stuff.
i did some pretty decent glass on warhammer by using a bluish difuse, a cloudy alpha, a splotchy spec map, and an enviroment map of basicaly a photo. took a lot of tweaking on all of it to get it to look right, but in the end it worked
