I want to build an all-steel 1500lb+ draw weight hand-held arbalest that shoots bolts at 400+fps. Probably not going to happen until I get a job though. Other than that, pretty much what @Zacd said, minus GDC since I'm in China =/ -

Those Korean monitors are really just good for getting a 2560x1440 ips display for cheap, Monoprice.com has the same panel (I think) for $400 with a 5 dead pixel policy, but still the same cheap stand issues. Some sellers with those panels are starting to show up on Amazon. -

For whatever reason I'm unable to see your latest images (last two posts). This makes me a sad panda. Same in every browser I've tried (ie. opera. chrome) I get the 403 error from DB when i try to follow the link manually. -

This took me between 15 and 20 minutes to make from scratch - just eyeballing your image. You can't tell me that you seriously cannot optimize that model any better without losing detail. 400 tris, btw. So you've got something to aim for ;) -

You can do a lot in photoshop with just a mouse, but concept art isn't one of them. Get a tablet. Wacom has some really affordable tablets that work fine. Don't think you need the $400 beasties. Their cheap tablets are great and will be an excellent investment in your learning. -

Add some weight, to make it look more natural, now it looks empty, or like there's no gravity. Also it looks like a new one, never used. Polycount seems quite high for such object (I mean it looks like 400-500tris maximum). Besides above, it looks good. :) -

I'm also making one of these, a deffkopta from Warhammer 40k, never liked warhammer, trying to like it now ^^ edit: and oh yeah, its a bit different on the two sides, so its not mirrored, i'll render from the other side next time if im not lazy :P -

To do this: - open MAxscript Editor - Put this two lines actionMan.executeAction 0 "40264" -- Views: Expert Mode Toggle actionMan.executeAction 0 "408" -- show command panel - Save this as a script with desired name. For example ExpertModeWithCommandPanel.ms - paste ExpertModeWithCommandPanel.ms to maxroot/scripts/startup… -
