This, seriously. When I did a vegetation heavy project recently, I spent a solid day running around outside and gathering photosource. I brought a white sheet of plastic and a white bedsheet with me as a neutral background so masking would be easier. Then I ended up going 100% handpainted, but MAN, the reference was great.…
Yeh thanks I know this tutorial and been doing stuff like that but , I was wondering in particular for snow terrain creation , mostly the surrounding mountains distant texture overlais like rock+snow+glacier, what's ur pipeline to get a good effect realistic surroundingj overlay texture? handpaint or some generators can…
Classic answer: It depends. It doesnt have to be PBR or lowpoly. It could be quite high in polycount or use handpainted textures. in general i would say, if some recruiter asks for it, they want to see _finished_ content that is ready to be in A game. Dependent on the game type, plattform, budget and so on "game ready" can…
Hi there ! Here's a new project I'm on, a low poly version of Arcane Zatanna: I'm aiming to sit around 1500 polygons for the character, the less polys possible for the weapon and around 500 for the bird, with fully handpainted textures, no high poly involved. My main reference comes from Devon Cady-Lee: Critiques are most…
I'm looking up a bunch of stuff my friend is linking me. I guess I was coming to a dead end with my current texturing skill set. I'm going to use the 3dsMax script posted in the news for the gradients, after that I'll look into how I can handpaint everything with a nice uniform style close to the concept.
Cool final result. I tried to do some handpainted with 3dCoat and I can saw it's a good choice to paint directly on the model because has a lot of options and the paint aim is really acurated. Gran trabajo final. ¿Nos espera algo en breve? Con ganas de ver más trabajos tuyos!!
Well, remember that the Monthly Envo/Character/Handpainted/Firearms and a few others challenges we been having are all unofficial. That said; TAN, you gonna need more participants to make it work. Since unofficial challenge offers no rewards or publicity, the only thing that will make ppl want to jump on it is if it's very…
s0id3 : I know exactly what u mean! It's not easy to improve on the handpainting for me but it will hopefully during this project :) Just wanted to show some scene progress.. Still not happy with the textures but here you go :) (background doesn't really match the turtle thus far) PS. The grass has some lazy alpha issues
It looks very nice for a handpainted foliage. I would maybe reduce the glowing around the edges of the leaves or at least change the tone so they don't look so neon, but other than that I think it is good so far. Make sure your normals have enough bend in them to help give this some real depth.
Can flixel be used for stuff other than pixel art? E.g. some handpainted 720p backgrounds, hires sprites etc. I want to spend an hour or two a day learning some coding and looking for right platform now. Maybe after a year I will be able to actually do some fun indie game experiments :)
