Hello everyone! I am still using Autodesk Imagemodeler for creating cameras for my Maya scene where i can modeling my object, but i am curious is there some modern, better tools to do that? Thanks!
Got the rest of the retopo done, gonna give whatever the cool kids are calling "2.8" a try. Who knows? Perhaps I'll kick my autodesk habit in favor of the freedom of... freeware.
That roadmap is kinda disappointing when considered against Blender's current feature list and library of addon's. Especially since Blender is free and Autodesk get's away with charging 100+ dollars a month.
You can get the faded shadow over distance with Scanline and lights set to "Area" shadows. It's a shadow type specifically created for this effect. http://www.kxcad.net/autodesk/3ds_max/Autodesk_3ds_Max_9_Reference/area_shadows_rollout.html
Try deleting your local settings directory of 3ds max. 'C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsMax' should reset the whole user interface
I'm gonna jump in and suggest it probably has to do with either Softshadows (does not work with large res viewport grabbing, thx autodesk) or Transparency quality (try all 3 settings).
great article, yea was surprised to see them all max now, alot of places are doing the same though where they model in max and animate in maya. Autodesk must be loving it haha
so I just installed the trial version of Maya 2012 (was using 2011) and it now works.... guess your right about Maya's shitty viewport rendering, sort it out autodesk...
Hey, look at this tutorial. I think it will help you. http://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials/autodesk-3d-studio-max/how-to-create-a-video-game-dumpster-the-complete-current-gen-workflow/
