i think it looks stunning. Better than C.O.D in some ways. I was thinking the other day, how i wish they bring Delta Force back, and seeing your thread with all this beautiful landscapes, it reminded me of that game and how it might look these days. Goodluck!
beta is up, pretty fun so far. the terrain/rocks are some of the best and most natural looking landscapes in games I have seen. audio deisgn is stellar as well. vehicles feel a little too arcadey/constrained compared to bf, but the on foot stuff is fun as hell.
Thanks :D! I agree. I want to add custom meshes to the sides as I feel that UE5 Landscape tool can't recreate it to my standards. I also wanna make custom decals on the road for the flat snowy bits as well. Moving the lighting panels up a bit and adding these would seal the look I think.
I've been having these problems with the shadows in UDK. On the meshes they are giving off like a weird lines problem (don't know how to explain it well). They are also really jagged. The farther I get from the mesh or landscape the worse it gets and the closer it gets better. Here are some pictures I took.
if you're working remote then it doesn't matter what machine you carry around with you does it? .. It's not written anywhere official cos Epic aren't going to admit to it. but yes - thats basically the size of it. You find yourself unable to do things (eg build HLODS, package world partition with nanite landscapes)…
The blend between the rock texture and the landscape material on the top of the rock looks a little harsh mostly because it looks like its not as high a quality compared to the main rock texture, you have some nice details on the sides of the rock compared to that it just looks flat.
"externally referenced" probably means you've got the landscape data in the wrong package. So try moving everything into the same package. I remember with terrains you needed to make sure the height data for the terrain was in the same package as the terrain actor. In that case it was the level package.
There's not much else to show gameplay wise as basically there is none in the traditional sense. Go play the mod version if you wanna know what the game will be like. It's basically a story told through sound cues of a dying man stranded on a island, while you explore the landscape.
Got a bit more done with this! :) still not completely finished, would like to add some more decals to the floor and dirty it up a bit, maybe some flowers to break up all the green, and I still have to finish decorating the top floor and the surrounding landscape.
