Id prefer to just use the round brush honestly, but I just need some choppy concept art that doesnt need to be super detailed like, if you were concepting a castle... would you really sit and draw every single castle brick? Thats what I dont understand. Most concept art looks like it was done at a fast pace and very…
That building looks a lot like what we do at the simulation company I work at. Only difference is we would put all those textures into one 512x512 :poly127:(it hurts to do it). Only thing I see that bothers me is the brick..it seems a bit flat. You should scale the bricks down so you see more in one swatch and add…
I agree with the previous posts - it could use a bit more variety. Maybe try fiddling with the normal map, make certain bricks 'pop' a bit more than others? You've also got a nice thing going where a couple of courses of stone are thinner than others. Maybe try playing that up a bit more for added variety? Also, for…
JonConley - I agree with dsenter. The brick feels a bit large, but the floor looks nice. The vertical pillar on the left looks a little soft to me. Could just be the lighting, but it just stands out next to the horizontal i-beam. Skibur - That's looking real good. Haven't made as much progress as I would have liked. I…
I made a brick wall texture after reading Jonathan Fletcher's article in Vertex 1 about handpainted textures. The article is really nice, but i feel there's quite a quality gap from my texture to his and i'm not sure what the most important differences are. But here it is including a nice GIF of wips this time : And here…
You're getting the jaggies because of the lack of divisions for tessellation. It still requires a lot of tris/vertices to get smooth results, but even with a good amount, you'll get some texture stretching in the areas where it was displaced. For the heightmap, especially for bricks, I'd just do what you had originally.…
100% in Substance Designer! I've spent way too long (way too long) on it and there's still a few things I can't really figure out, I can't get the mortar in between the bricks to do quite what I want it to. I want it to slightly spill onto some of the bricks that are tilted into the mortar - I just can't get it right…
I second what was said but I also suggest making a scale figure to use in your scene while working. Your scale is all over the place the window or doors either seem small or the bricks in your textures are massive. Other then that keep it up and I def think you should get rid of the grime cards for the vertex painting in…
This is my High Res sculpt of some warn down/weathered bricks for what would be an (Aztec/Mayan) temple. I am testing a new workflow. And if you are wonder there are 61 bricks that I hand sculpted haha yah I went a little crazy on the number but it should tile pretty nicely with not a lot of repeating. Not to mention when…
This is top notch work. I love all the time and love in such a small scene. It really shows off your skills. Keep it up! The can and tire adds some nice color to the scene, but I think it could use a bit more somewhere, it is a bit gray overall. Maybe add a little color to the bricks? It's not very often you see totally…
