MightyPea: thanks for the advice. i'll have to start playing around with the lighting some more. for now i'm just using one skylight :P. here's an update. it isnt much. i havnt had much time to work on it. (stupid school :P)
Are you going for skinny gaunt looking or just forgot to soften the forms ? Either way you missing some mass and delineation of masseter and if you soften zygomatic and transition of bottom eyelid to bottom margin of orbit(infraorbital) he will look less like zombie

but i thought we aren't supposed to modify/bypass the original skeleton? well animating it isn't much of a problem, but since there is no "REAL" way to import the animation (i donno how those people who does taunts etc does it), im kinda lost ~_~

I make it so I have something to taunt my concept artist mates at work with. Those godless no-third-dimension-havin' sons-a-bitches! Then they come back at me with "you have to build what we concept", which makes me sad... :(
I think the logs being straight is ok if its a clean fireplace and hasnt been lit yet - spending winter in a cottage I always stack the logs as tidy as possible, they are only all over the place after the fire has been burning a while

Alright, heres an update, ive worked both the model and the textures a bit, still lots to do, i got some details that i havnt had time to make a pass on and some more model work to do, but its definately looking better imo!
