Hawken: I did a quick price comparison between 2 of the notebooks listed here as well as the macbookpro - mostly out of curiosity, and partly because I'm thinking of getting one myself (I bought my gf one and love it, and would much rather have control over my windows install and what extras I put in). Here goes: (all…
I use my unlocked PC to watch DVDs, like real men should do Here is a preview of the GP2x on lik-sang (large HongKong internet shop): http://www.lik-sang.com/news.php?artc=3708&linkref=html11 Haven't gotten my unit yet (so many preorders that they had to elongate production time, or at least they say so), but it is getting…
There used to be ways to convert educational Autodesk licenses into professional licenses for quite a discount. You should look into that. $370ish isn't cheap for a CPU I bought my quad core when it was just below top of the line for ~$240. EDIT: You won't need a pro license to mod games unless you plan to sell the mods,…
The Nvidia DDS plugin for Photoshop has some great controls for making the MIPs. I like using the Mitchell MIP Map filter, tends to do the best job. Here's a tut I posted in another thread recently. http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=46&t=373024 It's a pretty good overview of some of the steps for painting on and embellishing photo textures. A lot of it though just comes down to an artist developing a good eye for what works well. A good way to start to…
Per, most commercial airplanes you fly in were manufactured decades ago, or reprinted from designs made decades ago. That is what the other poster was speaking about. The fact is that planes don't really have amazing tech, flight is just a very very simple mechanic. You don't need Autopilot and gauges and garbage to stay…
