Yes, gamma corrected textures(sorry I probably should have made that clearer). I cross checked the two materials, and the ONLY difference I could find between them is that the one that is correct looking had a "SRGB/Gamma corrected" diffuse map while the other diffusemap did not. Unreal quarters every texture on package reload. So if you import a 2048 and then save the package and re-open it, you'll be seeing the 1024 mip of the texture and not the native 2048.
