Or Max > Containers. 2010 and 2011 allow you to open the containers and edit the files locally without having to go back to the original file. Or what about using render presets?
Some wear and tear on the slide, grip and frame.. Nevermind the wonky normals.. somehow the viewport shader in max 2014 screws them up. they look nice in marmoset and max 2010

I just got a student version of max 2012, it looks that way when I render in there. My 2010 version renders clean. So I think it might be a bug not sure
