I'm going to cast my vote on making the stones more angular and to overall follow the aesthetic from the concept art. Hand painted scenes are dime a dozen in the WoW-ish/overly cartoony style, but the impressionistic design in the concept art would be a standout piece translated to 3D. I admit, overthinking things is a mistake I make a lot... Also, i do know of Black Mesa Source, although that's made using the new Source engine, and it was supposed to be released back in 2009. But yeah, I need to choose something smaller first, although i have no idea why. I could try modelling TF2 hats :3 -

I use Windows sticky notes too. I have a huge note which almost completely covers my second screen. It's full of TF2 item ideas, script names and reminders. It's good to have all the stuff at one place so you know where to look for anything. I also have a small writing board I use mostly for non-computer stuff like events… -
