This is some cool stuff. Could we maybe see a wire from some of the curved surfaces with vents and panel lines and such? I hate doing panel lines and circles on curved meshes, but yours looks really good.
If you want the circles to remain circular, everywhere on the dome, then the default geometry and UVs will not work properly. You will need to create a custom layout. Find an example of how it is done in real life to learn about tesselation techniques.
I really like the design! The magazine looks awesome. I think you could improve the handle though. Maybe change the handles' texture and the circle in the centre. Anyway really nice skin. Good luck in the contest!
the circle is complete :P nice job. Just a small comment on the wear though, it seems like the wear mask is inverted. I would think the paint would chip off the edges first, and persist on the flatter surfaces
There is a radial gradient function in Unreal, I used that to create custom vignette and blur effects. You can set the radius of the circle, and its sharpness. For fading things out, you can measure and use pixel depth.
Ok, maybe don't watch right now. He sure likes walking in a circle and returning to Helgen (the starting town). He's been there 4 times now and every time he's like "oh, what's this place?"
The checker is not showing how much distortion there is. I recommend using a preview texture with a finer grid, and circles, and letters, and a fine per-pixel grid... for example: http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/TextureCoordinates#UV_Map_Grids This is my current fav:
Perfect explanation on what to do, as I would have started out subdividing right away. The slice circle + edge loops worked and I was finally able to get this thing going. Thank you very much.
I removed the edge loops..im still optimizing this..my question is: this polygon I have circled will have a slight twist to it since one edge is approx. 25 degrees and the opposite edge is 45 degrees, is this okay?
Bal, this is new to maya 2011, I went back and checked in maya 2010 the quad is a circle when smoothed. Modesty Blaze, thanks yeah that does the trick I guess they've changed as they are now referring to it as legacy.
