That looks better edit+ Those steps near the tower I would give those more of an incline . Looking at the concept sketch there would be a bit more of a drop to the second wall . The steps are spaced to close together it looks like maybe there should be 2 steps instead of 4 right now .
Creating a 100-step stair in Maya would actually be pretty easy. Just make one step and duplicate once, transform it to the place of the next step then duplicate with transform for the next 98 (which means that you just have to hold the key down for a few seconds.) Pretty straightforward.
Is sub-d modeling dead? Depends on what we want to do with it. In AAA production, it has getting less relevant. But so has AAA-production. The growth of the Indie market along with the current state of of web technologies means that human sub-d skills will become more valuable again. Think about this; Virtually all games…
Maybe this can help you. This is my personal method: Step 1= Simple Highpoly and Lowpoly models: http://i.imgur.com/utJf3SI.jpg Step 2= Baking and textures work: http://i.imgur.com/XMqeGzy.jpg Step 3= Profits: http://i.imgur.com/FiCLzp4.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9mw7hdC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/IPQuCFg.jpg :)
I'm sure someone will come by and pick up the name, or buy the studio. 3D Realms is a very well established brand, and we'll probably see it resurface with some new management. Step #1 Get some business school sharks to come and restructure the company. Step #2 ........ Step #3 Profit!!
The problem is that the step, and the end of the side beam of the steps doesn't line up wht the floor compared to the grid. I made a paintover to show how they could be lined up, and the it will snap. Basically: the floor's bottom on the start of the stair is on a grid line, so you'll need the last step's bottom to be…
After some "zbrush-beginner-panic-attacs" I went back and decided to do the shield material by material in zbrusch, render the normal an AO in Xnormal and then add them together in Photoshop. Small steps.. step by step :) Today I did the golden rings: Zbrush Render 3DO Render (non PBR)
One of the things I tried was making the model really big to try and fix the stepping, it's usually scaled to the right size. Also, the stepping didn't happen until I used the pose tools to try and scale parts of the model, I had been using the grab brush fine until then with no stepping issues.
Believe me I spent hours searching before I made this thread, not sure how I never found this.. Step 1 - Select edge loops like so Step 2 - Switch to vertex and select a loop near the center Step 3 - Click "Curve" and "Space" and that's it. Here's the result!
Perhaps plan ahead, make a long term goal, something realistic. Then break it up into small steps, 1 day project type of things like pior mentioned. Then just go down the line step by step, one by one and don't look back. Eventually you'll get something done.
