Painting skin tones
Everyone always says you need to have skin tone variations when you paint flesh. Subtle blues, red, greens 'n stuff. But how do you know where to put these colors? Do you just chuck them anywhere you think they look good? Or are there anatomical reasons for putting colors in certain places? I'm struggling a bit painting… -
How to - Vertex Painting (Unsolved)
Hi folks, Wondering if someone could shed some light on vertex color painting. I've followed a couple tutorials, looked a the 3Ds max docs and generally tinkered with the Vertex paint modifier. Seems I cannot paint the colors on my mesh vertices, only the fill and erase tools work.… -
paint on model with normal map shader
Do any of the tools for painting on 3d models (Zbrush, 3DCoat etc) allow you to paint on a model that has a normal map shader on it, so you can visualize the final look more easily and paint a diffuse map that matches the normal map and such? -

Fun update - 3D prints! Hot off the press, my cousin has been kind enough to use his new 3D printer to make some sweet prints of this guy. He's still a bit gooey, gonna clean him up and paint him soon! -

looking awesome, concerning the cut out if he is going to be mounted on foam core and then cut out the hair is going to give you some gruff. i say stay on the side of bigger smoother shapes with the sillouette that you are going to cut out. i say stick with 300 dpi printed on photo paper, people coming up to your booth… -
Hand Painted House
Hi guys, I'm currently working on a small hand painted scene. I was inspired by a friend who does hand painted texturing to give it a try. I'm trying for diffuse only, no spec or normal. I may add lights though. I have never hand painted textures before and I'm definitely having difficulties so any feedback or critique… -
SOLVED: Dynamask Custom Painting
I had a go painting custom alphas, love the new feature though I find it really hard to know exactly where I am painting on my textures, as I cannot see the texture beneath the alpha in order to have fine control over the painting process. Dont know if my workflow is correct, I'd appreciate if someone could explain or send… -

Thanks scmanol! unfortunately I cant change anything for the print at this point but ill play with getting it less symmetrical for some more beauty shots. I just got this shot from the guys making my print! I can't wait to get it, pretty happy with how it turned out. -
