@D3lux Model looks real good, I'd pump up the brightness and maybe add another light just to better show it off. Here's my final submision. I spent about 24h in total and I'm not sure if that's decent or not. I quite like the original style though, kinda reminds me of Styx Master of Shadows, which is probably why I wanted…
WAIIIIT!! The new X99 mobos just came out!! The 5820K is 6 cores for $389!! Don't have exact specs but here's an idea of what you should go for (similar to others here). CPU - Intel Core i7-5820K MOBO - Some X99 Mobo GPU - 780Ti for sure HD - Samsung 840 EVO 1TB 2.5-inch Basic SATA Solid State Drive RAM - HyperX Beast…
Nice video! I've been doing something similar except using painter as well as support geo where needed. That's a really good idea though. Also, with the match by mesh name, I'm able to bake a 24K model with ~15 low poly parts without exploding or cage creation. Real real nice and easy. I am curious to see how you figure…
I do have bake animations enabled, and if I try to export the rig as well, Maya crashes. Whenever I export though, I get this warning message. "243 attributes had complex animation. Complex animation was exported as baked curves. (29160 evaluations done)" I'm guessing this might be the issue, but I have no idea how to fix…
:poly141: I'm just thinking in terms of other artbooks I own right now. Maybe some breakdowns of a few scenes (2,5 D), The iterations of the characters.. how you established the art style in general.. You probably experimented until you came to this final art :) Some prop designs? Don't know if you have some color/mood…
Do script blockers block html 5 video tags? i use them on my folio to show video with either an mp4, ogg or webm file. that way it works on every device. this is the tag, <video width="360" height="240" controls> <source src="blabla.mp4" type="video/mp4"> <source src="blabla.ogg" type="video/ogg"> <source src="blabla.webm"…
I did one of those too, Zac. One thing you can do, is look into visbility conditionals for parameters. The picking list for metal base colors only is important if your metallic value is really high, once you go lower (non-'pure') you're just approximating anyway and you can pick any color you want. So you could use a…
Just wanna check if I understand what this is: I imagine this uses a bunch of render passes like depth, normal, AO and a stencil to work. So I would essentially just take all of those render passes from a camera pointed at my high poly model (which doesn't necessarily have UVs) and get to work on a 2.5 version in…
Sorry for the late entry! About 2.5 hours whilst on G+hangout with friends. We had a mini challenge with the 3 artists and 1 programmer in there. One artist said yolo and didn't save once and of course his file crashed (haha) and the other finished with me about the same time! The programmer quit about half way. I learned…
