If you unwrap an object and then clone/instance it, the clone inherits the same uv space. (if you select element on those uv's and move them over you'll see, there will be an exact copy under it for the copied polys)
it's a sorting order problem. copy the one in front and delete the old one. that should fix it. or if that dont work, make a copy of the back one and delete the old one. Yeah it's a ghetto solution I know.

As far as I know here, the mesh gets manually triangulated by our export script before exporting. Since it's done by script it's reversible/non destructive: create a copy of the mesh, triangulate, export, delete the copy.

I already subdivided my complex mesh. Could I attach the pieces back together in a separate copy, unwrap it, then copy/paste it to the subdivided mesh? Or maybe group the mesh together as one and unwrap it that way?
