Hey Ilya. I love the first material you created of the brick wall. I have a question though. How did you paint the brick a different colour to the mortar/grout in Photoshop? Did you bake out a mask from Zbrush. I'm trying to work out how to do this myself.
Looks good, the only thing i really noticed off hand is you didnt add the brick texture from the concept onto your model, that might help show more variety as now you have the same texture shown across all the walls, minus the bricks at the bottom... -Buddikaman-
I agree with qwedeath less space between the bricks would be more believable, if you were to build a tower like that you wouldnt put so much space between bricks, I also think if you model out those wooden parted to give it a bit more depth that would be a nice touch
Two things that stood out: The brick wall is just one big texture. I'd have been more impressed if you had made it from tiling brick, decals etc. Your cartoony dirt texture repeats horribly inside itself. It looks like you've taken a small section and then copied it around.
Looks fantastic so far. I think the plaster looks a little too clean where it's supposed to be broken. Also, do you have the same specular on both the plaster and the brick? Both seem to shine the light the same way, but the brick would not be as reflective as something like plaster which usually has a coating.
Are you trying to model off of a toy? Some of the pictures ive seen they had some depth, you need to get some depth and height with the bricks. When importing to an engine use POM to get the bricks to pop out even more. If you're going for a realistic stone wall I dont believe that's realistic.
110% more cracks, pock marks and broken tiles! Most of those subtle edge details in between the bricks will get washed out at lower resolutions. Add in the occasional tilted or missing brick. Think about bringing in other elements like roots, leaves or other material types to make it a little more interesting.
Hey guys, Don.,t Mind look at any link for lightmaps. I really thought I got the principle and how they worked, but this brick wall is annoying me. I know if I did a really low poly then I could do it all in one. But my bricks are separate. Any advice pls.
I'd say try to make a more interesting brick-texture, this one is not that good honestly. I like the environment as a whole though, I'd probably try to figure out nice textures just by applying some easy tiled brick textures over the walls in photoshop ^^ Oh well :) Keep working! It's looking good!
As a blender user i've found exporting a material/colour ID map quite awkward, resorting to bakes and having to enable or disable blender options to get a clean unaltered diffuse colour render. A process that is both fiddly and time consuming. By chance I came across the offical BLender uv layout addon to export the uv…
