Yeah and those are usually specialized on certain tasks. We are about 40 people and only one is not a modeller right now. that might shift next year, but still it will be a ton more modellers than any other position. But we also do not overspecialize in like modeller, texture artist etc. we usually support full ownership… -

I usually stack mine. I'm not sure if it's "professional" or not, but it saves texture space, which is the name of the game. On top of which, if it's not important enough to get it's own Texturing, it's not usually important enough to get it's own UV's. Have you tried using a combination of overlay, multiply, soft light and play with the opacity settings plus layer masks? Usually a combination of those makes it look more realistic and you may need to add an adjustment layer with a mask that lowers the saturation in case the overlay mode makes it look too cartoony. yeah i have switch between direct x and open gl. i dont think its the ati card cause there are folks here at work with nvidia cards and max still crashes for them. Eric, what exactly do you mean by no more crashes than usual? usually max dosent crash for me at all, this is a pretty new to me vs my laptop. -

"It depends" Triangles are pretty cheap these days, but you can start running into problems when you get lots of tris that are smaller than 2x2 pixels. With dynamic resolution or upscaling, you want to consider this before the upscaling. Were also still in the cross gen phase and next gen standards are don't really exist… -

Do you want to keep it all in Maya? Usually it's easier (at least for me) to do the terrain in the actual game engine you choose to use, such as UE4, UDK, Cryengine, or Unity. Thanks guys . I am working at some 20m high cliffs from lidar laser scanner. With hard /split edges the lods are usually is lesser of a problem since vertex normals stay in same direction usually . But because of number of reason I had to go all smooth and face weighted normals and when it came to lods the whole thing…
