Thanks guys. So is it very common that oversea students would stay there and look for a job after graduation? Or they would just go back to their home country? I think it is hard to keep staying there because companies rarely offer jobs to those students unless they have really strong portfolio, right? -

I think this is the best character portfolio from a student i've ever seen. *note* i've not seen ALL student portfolios, but this is just leaps and bounds better than like 90% than I've seen, particularly at my school. Well done! I think you'll find work! -
Using an unlisenced version of maya for commerical work
I have a friend who is making models for dota 2, and is worried that he might get sued by autodesk for using a student version of maya so he switched to blender, does Autodesk actually enforce this? what would they do if they find out you used a student version of maya to make some models that you then got profit from? -

Photoshop is a texturing tool, you can use it to texture your models but you will need an app to model them first. If you are a student you can get the autodesk products very cheaply and possibly free. just check out their student site. Eric: i pruned ricks comment, its was utterly pointless. -
Re: Maya 2014 File Browser extremely slow?
Maya 2014 is up to service pack 4, so make sure you get that one. The Student Version is technically the full version, but when certain serial numbers are used it goes into student mode. 3ds Max operates the same way. When you don't have a serial number it goes into trial mode. -

Great points Gav. The whole demo reel thing really bothers me when I see students work, applications and portfolios. Its even more annoying to me that teachers are constantly opposing this by shoving the "must have demo reel" motto down student artists throats - that however is another conversation :poly124: -

I'm mostly just a hobbyist. I do have 3DS Max as I have a student email and am using the student version. I'm mostly just getting discouraged, I look at a section of a model I worked on and it just looks terrible and I give up out of frustration and disappointment.
