Mel helps somewhat but usually the python documentation is well documented and the mel knowledge helps when converting maya commands to pythonic terms.

It's currently done in Mel script, which is very slow for that. One day I will try the C++ API. :) I don't share yet my script because I have still a lot of bugs to resolve unfortunately.
Come at me bro, we are feeling the same ! However, i will skip the Python/Qt phase and go from Mel to C++ API once I will have some free time in my free time (yeah, really). :)
