I don't know about games getting less difficult, but they sure are getting less complex and more simple gameplay wise. I know this is to cater more to the mainstream so more sales can be had, but it really is destroying games imho. What im trying to say is that whats happening there objectively doesn't really look engaging and like you say, its a tedious. Making something hard to time because its difficult to gauge distance/range isn't a good example of a challenge, its like making it hard by blurring out important infomation, that to me is false.… -

thinking darksiders was the best example of a newish hard game, still very enjoyable, but in it's cases the bosses were puzzle bosses. -

I'm the same as Ged- I want to see the good stuff, not the same bit over and over.. but, the big devs only do what they find sells, so I don't think they're 'shooting themselves in the foot' if they find easier games sell more. I dont think difficulty is really the problem. There are some games that are a lot more enjoyable because they are easy, and other games like Super Meat Boy would suck if they were really easy.
