My Chupacabra composition. I think i have to work on the shadow a bit but i was having trouble trying to figure out how it would fall on dust clouds like that!
I really love this - but the one thing that jumps out is the default UDK sky (and the abundance of clouds in the desert :P). Get yourself a nice custom blue sky and you'll be unstoppable! :D
@SaferDan Your texture has a little too much 'soft dirt' that looks like the cloud filter. This gives the impression that you have a bad normal-map bake or that the material is soft. Try to tone this down, and see how it looks :) it might help a little.
hey nordahl154 you could maybe add a small internal frame piece that secures the mesh to the panelling that might kick it up a knock and make it feel a bit more manufactured. Also a slight cloud multiply over the spec of the grating could break things up a little more
Looks better in motion, all churning and imposing and blending into the clouds. From memory it's using a 128x128, and somewhere around 240 polygons. Pretty good I think, considering it's (in this example) from 600m up to 1km high. Overdraw isn't an issue, and even looks good inside the thing.
Yeah I totally get what you mean! It's meant to be a robot that carries nuclear stuffs I think? The concept isn't mine its from Brink - But yeah I shall have a play and change up the colour! Thanks a lot :) Osman There was no cloud filter but I get what you are saying! Looking now it does look a bit much in places! Thanks…
Romy, that pirate castle scene is fantastic. Only crit (which is probably a bit early) is that the dark side of the tower kind of blends in with the background clouds because they are very close in colour. Which will be fixed when you tweak the lighting so not really a major thing to point out but I had to pick on…
Swizzle, loving the look of that shader, but I agree with Ravenslayer; some exaggerated highlights would be welcome. Strkl, those concepts are pretty sweet! Nice shapes and all. Been working on an explosion FX thing, partly as a mental exercise. Wanted to approximate the look of the explosions in the Nvidia DX11 paper,…
