The only way for it to be worth it is to go to either a super expensive recognized CG school or an inexpensive traditional art school. If you're going to spend 20k+ on a useless degree you might as well donate it to polycount.
My advice, get a degree from a relatively inexpensive school. This can be valuable and useful it doesn't exactly matter what it's in. But, it's a degree. For your skills, teach yourself on site such polycount and other good tutorial sites.
