I'm learning the basics of 3dsmax poly modeling. I want to apply the soft selection falloff only for x , so if i selected a vert in the middle of sg, the falloff would only apply to the vertices on the left and teh right. Hope you can understend what i mean... I'm not sure if its possible.
Work in vertex subobject. Select the vertex you want. Set the Edge distance to a number. Increase the falloff until it stops. Increase the Edge distance to a higher number. try using isolation made to hide everything but what you want soft selection wot work on, this trick works in maya, but i dont have max so cant verify if it works there.
