One reason for a modifier... keeping modifiers that are higher in the stack. For example I have some Editable Poly models with UVW Xform modifiers on them, and some animation keyframes. hahahahaha, best post perna has ever made. ever. screenshotted :D anyway, i was under the impression that if you deleted a modifier you lost the effect of that modifier, but if you collapsed it, you retained the changes made within that modifier.
