So far I've liked Mark's layout the best. Personally I'm against the large image wall and that sort of thing. I think it works to enhance the superstar "ass patting" mentality, and works against the feeling of communication and community that makes polycount so great (at least in comparison to other places). I think simply…
Oh I am? Nice! It's Friday. I've had far too much caffeine already and feel like writing. I hope you all don't mind. DISCLAIMER: No one specific post, artist, or activity prompted me to write this. I have wanted to for awhile and finally sat down to do it. 3D game artists who use communities to shill their artwork, while…
View count is available by hovering your mouse over the last posters name to the right of the thread title. The WAYWO thread for example has 1,062,568 views... I like the image wall idea with random large size thumbnails. I just wish I had more coding knowledge to make it happen...
Great read so far and has made me look back on how I post. Pretty sure if it wasn't for the tech guys who posted and pushed me in the right direction, wouldn't be trying to code and make tools. Try to help where I can and tech section always keeps me inspired to keep learning and pushing.
I'm one of those polycounters that's always around and post every now and then. That is because I try to keep my useful/useless post ratio intact. The first part of this thread, was very interesting to read, but the last part of it, no offense to anyone, sounds not too relevant. I might be missing the point here tho, so…
This would be fairly easy to start, if the leaders and community members who post badass art put a little extra words in their posts, and set an example. It doesn't have to be what seems to be the standard "DO THIS OR REPORT THEM" mentality of a few recent threads, its awesome when people include it in their threads, but…
well i disagree. one person making a thread about why people don't explain their work doesn't amount to the network being "broken" when i started out learning about game art there was very little explanations/tutorials for most of the thing that i wanted to do(at least things that made technical/aesthetic sense). lot of…
Minotaur0 -- its a problem here, certainly. We're not unlike most sites when it comes to this. Questions might not be ignored, but thats not my problem. My problem is hit & run posts that may-or-may not be updated or addressed later. The worst is when the author comes back a day later with a collective 'thanks guys'.
WELL Things have change here over 10 years, PnP used to be a place for artists like myself to Pimp and preview up and coming player models for quake and unreal, So we could see what other artist where creating and get excited about the new up and coming Alien/homer model we could now frag our friends with in our favorite…
