I am trying to use a decal on my bricks that are static meshes (modular building) but everytime I try and place a decal on the bricks it looks like an image on the wall. Or in other words, I need the bricks textures to show up on the decal. Can someone please direct me in the right path. normal maps and alpha channels…
what blending and lighting modes are you using? if memory serves then you want to use unlit and additive to get the decal to just add to the existing texture (dirt etc.) there's another thread here talking about decals cheers tharle
so you are trying to add a brick decal to a regular wall mesh? is that correct? if so it would be a very inefficient way to go about doing that. in which case you may want to take a look into using vertex colors. http://www.chrisalbeluhn.com/UDK_Advanced_Vertex_Painting.html
@tharle thanks, i couldn't find that thread last night. I was able to make a basic decal to blend well with the brick. @Oniram My modular pieces are very low poly. so vertex painting wouldn't work until I added more geometry. But I do think that method is one of the best.
