im currently working on something that does this, sofar i only got it making a circle out of vertex selections, still need to figure out how to evenly distribute them before hand
Bringing this back from the dead as none of my attempts to use scripts I've found online work. Can anyone point me in the direction of a "Convert Ring to Perfect Circle" type script for Maya? Thanks!
I haven't tried any of those scripts but with spherify won't it move the other 4 verts as well creating a smaller circle and possible disturbing other topology? edit: actually it doesn't it just breaks the interior edge topology
This is the way i've always done it: Just dividing a quad, splitting the middle edges, then beveling/chamfer the vertex highlighted in red and it gives you a perfect circle with no cleanup needed, aslong as the original quad is perfectly square this works every time. This does not work in maya though has it doesn't average…
Hah! Perfect timing. Thanks for the suggestions. I was just looking for something like this in 3ds Max today after watching this Vitaly Bulgarov video where he converts quad faces to a circle in XSI in a single click (not sure if it is a script).
